I love yoga
Yoga for me is about the journey, not an end goal. My journey has truly been life changing...hard to put into words honestly. Body awareness, mindfulness, peacefulness, clarity are a few things that stand out...seeing all of the little moments blossom into this amazing experience for me, is simply put, AWESOME.
I completed my 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training with Art of Yoga and registered for my RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance in June 2019. November 2019, I had my first ever MRI that revealed a large benign tumor at my L4 L5 vertebrae. The tumor had been with me for sometime, as it changed the shape of my bone! January 2020, I had spinal surgery to remove the tumor. After a complication with a pulmonary embolism and the experience of recovering from surgery, I found my way back to "normal" movements and I'm getting stronger everyday. I am so thankful for my yoga practice to help me understand something was wrong within my physical body and to provide the guidance to recover and heal.
April 2022 I began the next chapter of my yoga journey and began my 300 hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training with Cathy Madeo Yoga online. This was a mixture of live sessions, group projects, homework and additional classes on our own time. I wasn't sure what to expect doing an online training but it was phenomenal! I have gained more information, new techniques and amazing skills to share with all. I have since completed the training and I am now a RYT 500. I am looking forward to what's next for my personal growth and training.
With so many different styles of yoga, I would encourage anyone to try a class with an open mind. Read the description of the class you plan to attend and know it's perfectly acceptable to find a pause when you need one. Yoga meets you where you are in your journey. Whether you want to flow and sweat, relax and stretch, or find some calmness in a seat, there is a yoga class for everyBODY.
I encourage the use of props and pose variations to help promote better alignment within your personal body, allowing you the most beneficial practice. To promote your personal connection within your practice, my teaching is mostly hands off with the occasional accepted hands on adjustment. I feel there is something powerful to gain from connecting what you hear to what you translate and how this resonates within you.
I love yoga and you might too!
I look forward to and am honored to share my practice with you.
